There’s something about September that makes me put down my needlepoint and pick up my knitting again. The half-finished bonnet I cast aside in early April has wormed its way back into my project bag, now three-quarters done.
Now, I am a FIRM believer that summer does NOT end until September 22, but since fall has finally arrived, I can’t help but think about the cozy projects I’ll get into once the weather turns…
It’s honestly embarrassing that I haven’t learned to crochet yet. If anything could get me to learn, it’s this Snoopy kit, which was kindly gifted to me earlier this year by the Woobles. If I can’t teach myself through YouTube University, I might have to sign up for Happy Medium’s “The Art of Crochet” class to get me going.
Ok, this is kind of cheating because it’s a project I started last winter, but intend to finish it this fall. I L O V E a bonnet, and have been working my way through this one using Juniper Moon Farm’s cotton and merino blend in the shade oat milk.
We are Knitters kindly sent me this kit, and I’m so excited to finally try a project that involves bouclé yarn! After how much fun I had making my cardigan last winter, I’m ready for cardigan 2.0.
Writing Pen Pal Letters
I don’t even know if this counts as a craft, but I’m in charge, so I’m including it anyway. My best friend moved away over the summer, and I’ve been enjoying picking up postcards from around town and along my travels and sending them to her. Though I should probably start by using what’s in my current postcard collection, as it’s basically overflowing at the moment. What a treat it is to send and receive handwritten, physical mail!
Junk Journaling
A glorified form of collage-meets-scrapbooking, my junk journal is where all those handwritten letters get glued and/or washi taped into, along with other bits of ephemera like tickets, receipts, photos and packaging. I have several spreads from summer travels that I need to sit down and work on.
Chunky, Beaded, Jewelry
During my trip to New Orleans earlier this month (more on that soon!), I stopped by the Bead Shop and came away with a gorgeous glass roundel bead necklace. It opened up the floodgates for beading, and I can’t wait to make more chunky creations.
LMK in the comments what crafts you’re excited to create this fall! More soon xx.
